Robert Macfarlane
Robert Macfarlane is the author of Mountains of the Mind (2003) and The Wild Places (2007). He won the Guardian First Book Award, The Somerset Maugham Award and the Sunday Times Young Writer of the Year Award for his debut Mountains of the Mind, which was also shortlisted for the Boardman Tasker and John Llewellyn Rhys prizes. He is currently a Fellow of Emmanuel College Cambridge.
His forthcoming book, The Old Ways, in which he sets off from his home in Cambridge to follow the ancient tracks, drove-roads, holloways and sea paths that criss-cross the British landscape will be published by Hamish Hamilton in June 2012.
