Third Generation

We celebrated the publication of Daniel Swift’s Bomber County last night at his mother Caroline Moorehead’s house in Primrose Hill. Caroline, it turned out, had her first book published by Hamish Hamilton, and her father, Alan Moorehead was one of HH’s bestselling authors in the Fifties, alongside Stephen Spender, whose wife Natasha was also at the party. So we all felt very at home.
Bomber County has been receiving excellent reviews, both here and in the US, including our favourite, from A.C. Grayling, describing it as: “Writing of an exceptional order. Of all the books about war I have read — all war, not just the bombing war — this is among the most moving and telling.”
